Anthony Martin

Anthony has been a professional archaeologist for over 20 years and has worked on a variety of projects in the UK and abroad. Until 2008 Anthony was the Technical Director for Heritage at Gifford (an international multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy firm), before leaving to establish Nexus Heritage with Dr. Jeffrey Altschul and Gerry Wait. He has excavated and published the results for several sites such Eccleston Hall in St Helens, a Bronze Age burial site in Staffordshire and a Romano-British village on Salisbury Plain. As a member of the Forensic Search Advisory Group he advised several UK police forces during search and recovery operations and co-edited the first reference work on forensic archaeology in the UK. Anthony’s interests concern the effective integration of cultural heritage into the EIA process, the development of appropriate management strategies for heritage assets and devising mitigation strategies for sub-surface and upstanding assets during the construction process.  Anthony has a B.A. in History from the University of Wales (Bangor) and a M.A. in Scientific Methods in Archaeology from the University Bradford.
